Candidates respond on unofficial Twitter forum

It was not possible to hold a live hustings event for the Dons Trust Board elections this year, but an obliging and inventive fan, Graham Stacey, kindly organised his own.

Graham hosted an unofficial live Twitter forum last week when some of the candidates were able to contribute to a wide-ranging set of questions from Trust members.

Voting reminder

Don’t forget to vote in this year’s Dons Trust Board elections, which members should by now be aware started three weeks ago.

Members have been sent their ballot forms either by email or by post, based on their stated preference, with people who have opted out of Survey Monkey receiving a ballot through the post.

Firstly, thank you to those members who have already voted. An email reminder will be sent out over the weekend of Saturday 29 November, again by Survey Monkey.

Dons Trust AGM papers

The papers for this year’s Dons Trust AGM are now available on this website and will soon be sent out to members.

The meeting will be held at The Cherry Red Records Stadium on Wednesday 10 December, starting at 7.30pm.

As well as considering the Trust’s annual report and accounts, there are a number of other items on the agenda, including the results of this year’s Dons Trust Board elections.

This year’s AFCW PLC AGM will be held on the same night.

AFCW PLC AGM papers

Papers have been sent out for the AFCW PLC AGM, which will be held on Wednesday 10 December at Kingsmeadow (starting at 8:30pm or following the Dons Trust AGM, whichever is later).

AFCW PLC is the company through which the Dons Trust owns AFC Wimbledon, and you can access the AFCW PLC AGM papers on its website.

Dons Trust joins government working group

AFC Wimbledon owners the Dons Trust have accepted an invitation from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport to be ‘expert witnesses’ on a new group looking at supporter involvement at football clubs.

The Supporter Ownership and Engagement Expert Group is the government’s response to the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) Select Committee’s Football Governance Inquiry.

Planning application goes in

The Dons Trust, owner of AFC Wimbledon, is delighted that the planning application for a new stadium has today been officially submitted to Merton Council.

The plans will revitalise the Plough Lane part of the borough, providing housing, retail and leisure space alongside the stadium, and will help the council fulfil its plans for sporting intensification on the site.

Junior Dons Christmas Party

Tickets are going fast for this year’s Junior Dons Christmas Party, but it’s not yet too late to book a place!

The party will be held at Kingsmeadow on Sunday 30 November from 11am to 2pm. Entry is free for Junior Dons members, while tickets for non-members cost just £10.

Conference debt initiative achieves success

A Football Conference initiative to reduce debt among its member clubs, strongly supported by AFC Wimbledon when we were in that league, has reaped rewards.

All 68 Conference member clubs recently achieved the goal of being debt-free to HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC). This is a significant turnaround from a time when collectively the clubs owed HMRC almost £2m.
