Message to fans about our new-stadium application

Supporters may be aware of an article published on The Racing Post website yesterday indicating that Wandsworth Council had put in a request to the Secretary of State to call in our new stadium planning application.

If the application is called in it will be another hurdle for us to overcome in our ambition to build a new stadium back in Wimbledon.

Club Chief Executive Erik Samuelson said: ‘We are very confident that our application is robust and has met the standards of professional planners at Merton, Wandsworth and the GLA [Greater London Authority]. We also believe it will withstand any external scrutiny.

‘In the first instance any requests for applications to be called in must meet the criteria laid down for such actions and we are very doubtful that such grounds exist.

‘Until matters become clearer we urge fans not to take any action and we will provide more guidance in the next few days.’
