Chair walks for charity

Matthew Breach, Chair of the Dons Trust Board, has news of some charity activities coming up later this season.

Walk Further For Wimbledon

Each year, a group of hardy walkers undertake a long-distance sponsored walk near the end of the season in aid of the AFC Wimbledon Foundation and other local charities.

The ninth “Walk Further For Wimbledon” will take place this year on 15 and 16 April, with the group tackling the 30 miles from Crawley Town’s Broadfield Stadium and arriving at the Cherry Red Records Stadium in time for when our home game against the West Sussex club kicks off.

If you are interested in taking part or wish to sponsor the group, please email me on matthew.breach@thedonstrust.org.

Men United March

As a warm-up for this, I’ve agreed to represent the Trust in joining Jeff Stelling’s Men United March for its last day, on 30 March.

Jeff – well known for his role hosting Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports and his love of Hartlepool United – is walking the equivalent of ten marathons in ten days as he makes his way from Hartlepool to Wembley via several football grounds.

On 30 March I’ll be joining him for the last leg, a trek of 26 miles setting off from AFC Wimbledon and heading to Wembley via Brentford, Fulham, QPR and Chelsea. This event is in aid of Prostate Cancer UK and is allied to the official Football League charity partner Men United, and you can sponsor me for taking part.

All in all, I shall be spending a lot of time walking over the next three months!
