Meet the Club Board – Update on Finances

Thank you to all members who joined the recent Club board meeting on 4 February. We appreciated the strong turnout at the stadium and online.

The meeting gave members an update on the latest stage of our journey as a club, and highlighted how much we achieved together, but also how perilous football finances are and how critical the next few months will be.

Your Club, Your Vote, Your Choice

The 50.01 Proposal

The Trust is returning to members for a debate, discussion and decisions about allowing us to sell further equity in the club and to seek minority investors who support the long-term future of AFC Wimbledon.

We know our club is one of the most well run in League One. However, the wider context of finances throughout English football means that stadium revenue growth alone is unlikely ever to be enough to compete and achieve break-even in League One or League Two.

To address reliable sustainability, we are in conversations with several potential minority investors who share our values and commitment to fan ownership. We would expect any minority investors to commit to purchasing equity, provide working capital and bringing skills/contacts to help drive us forward.

What We’re Proposing

Investment discussions so far have told us that any investor prepared to put in significant working capital in addition to equity purchase may want to buy more than the 15% currently in our rules, more likely around 25%. Such an investor would also expect to have at least one or two seats on the Club board.

In addition to the 50.01 proposal, we will be asking members to vote on removing the current 15% limit in our rules.

As per restricted action rules making this change requires a high level or approval and turn-out for two votes.

Members will be able to cast their vote online or in person for both meetings. The meetings will be held two weeks apart on the 23rd March and 8th April.

New Constitution

On the same ballot papers, members will also be asked to approve the updated Trust constitution. The draft was brought forward to members at the November 2025 SGM and is now completed and reflects extensive work and review over the past year.

The board would like to thank the members of the Constitution Working Group for their significant contributions and sustained effort to arrive at the proposed new constitution.

Ahead of the first SGM, we will circulate a summary of the changes, the reasoning behind them and the full text so members are able to review the proposals before voting.
