Trust helps local community with Foodbank collection

The Dons Trust is providing an opportunity for supporters to help those less fortunate during the festive season by collecting items for Wimbledon Foodbank.

A similar initiative was undertaken last year when Dons fans collected a quarter of a tonne (250 kilograms) of food for the Foodbank.

This year we are targeting our donations to items that the Foodbank has specifically asked for as they are short of these items. They are:

  • soap powder
  • fabric conditioner
  • nappies (sizes 4 and 5)
  • sugar.

Fans wishing to make a contribution can do so at our home games against Mansfield Town on Saturday 20 December and Exeter on Sunday 28 December.

Please drop off your donations at either the Dons Trust stall by the pod in Jack Goodchild Way or by the trophy cabinet in the main entrance to the stadium.

If you are unable to donate an item but want to take part we will also be collecting cash donations, and the money raised will be used to buy the items they have requested.

Based in High Path, Wimbledon Foodbank provides three-day emergency food parcels of nutritionally balanced non-perishables to those people in crisis who are referred to them by more than 100 charities, churches and schools across Merton.

The charity, which opened in October 2011, is stocked entirely from donations from local businesses, churches, schools, neighbours – and football clubs!
