Wimbledon Foodbank’s back!

Following the success of the last collection at the start of the New Year, The Foundation is again supporting Wimbledon Foodbank by organising a food collection at the home game against Sunderland on Sat 25th August 2018.

The Foodbank approached the club and Foundation a few weeks ago with an urgent request for help as its food stocks were low at a peak period of demand over the six week holiday period. Foundation staff will be manning a collection point outside the back bar by the inflatable and urge any supporters who can help the appeal to bring any items on the day between 12.30pm – 2.30pm to support Wimbledon Foodbank provide a vital service to local families in need.

All non-perishable food items will be accepted including the following items:

* Cereal

* Soup

* Sugar

* Rice

* Pasta sauce

* Beans

* Tinned meat

* Tinned vegetables

* Tea/coffee

* Tinned fruit

* Biscuits

* Squash

Foundation Director Philip Rudling added:

“This was a direct request from the Foodbank who the club has worked with closely for several years – they approached us as they know we have been able to effectively support their project after the last successful collection in March. Summer food poverty is a big issue for local families in need in our local area and we hope club supporters can be as generous as always.”
