When it was decided to continue the club as AFC Wimbledon back in 2002 it was the start of a truly remarkable journey. Who would have thought nine years later the club would be playing in the football league again? And that just nine years after, we would be looking forward to our first game in an exciting brand-new stadium? But what did it take to get AFC Wimbledon going? What obstacles did we have to overcome? What were the key decisions taken ahead of that very first competitive game of the new era at Sandhurst on 17 August 2002? Could we have done it any better? What would YOU do differently?
Well if you are aged between 10 and 16 you have the chance to experience this journey in this fun and challenging competition run by the Football Supporters Association.
Your task is to create your own football team: what will you call it? What will your badge say about your values? Then as you progress through the workbook you will face various challenges and choices including:
- how to raise the money you need?
- how much money to spend on players?
- how your stadium will serve your community?
And that is not all. If you are aged between 6 and 9 you have the chance to design a flag for your team next season. Use all your creativity and skill to choose the colours and design that will really, really make your club stand out from the rest.
Once you have completed your workbook and flag you will have the chance to enter a competition to win one of four flags which you personally design.
Full details of how to enter, including materials to download and terms and conditions, are available on the Football Supporters Association website.
The deadline for competition entries is midnight on 31 August 2020.
