A Tribute to Dons supporter Colin Gales

The Dons Trust and the Club were shocked to hear the news that long-standing Wimbledon supporter Colin Gales had passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of 74.

Colin, a member of the DT, was well known around the club as he volunteered for many years in the club shop and helped with ticket mail-outs. He would often drop by the Dons Trust kiosk on matchdays at Kingsmeadow. Colin is pictured above (second from left) in a group photo at the annual volunteers’ away day in 2016, which took place on the day Wimbledon clinched a play-off place at Stevenage. The picture below shows him volunteering inside our old ground.

Colin will be sorely missed, especially by his family, including his sister Veronica and her husband Robert, his niece Victoria, and nephew Nigel. Colin’s funeral (which is restricted by numbers) is being held on 3 June at 2.45pm at Lambeth Crematorium. There will be a celebration of his life later in the year when COVID restrictions lift fully.

Friends of Colin have set up a JustGiving page in his memory with donations made to the AFC Wimbledon Foundation. Visit this donation page to make a contribution.
