Continuing our series of answers to questions we’ve recently been asked online or in person recently, here is a slightly delayed round-up of questions and answers for August and the start of September which we think would benefit our wider membership.
ProBoards
Is ProBoards shutting down? (Reference to member handbook and the fact that X is the most used social media platform)
- We’re currently revisiting how this board is managed, including specifically new arrangements for moderation. Like all our engagement methods including X, we are always looking at how effective ProBoards is. It’s worth noting that by far the most engagement we have comes from our newsletter and our website.
Women’s games
Can the DTB have an active presence at AFC Wimbledon Women games?
- Yes, this a priority for us, but board availability is always going to be a factor. We would always welcome involvement from ordinary (non board) members.
Emails
Why are “Membership” emails coming from the club?
- At the moment some emails come from the Dons Trust platforms and some from club platforms. Over time we intend to use a single email platform as much as possible. Our emails will still be from ‘The Dons Trust’ but will be delivered via the club platform.
Bond reminders
Why haven’t there been reminders for the PLB when the deadline is 31st August 2024 and can the deadline for decision on bonds be postponed until after the 75% equity vote.
- Reminders have been sent to bondholders with bonds due to be repaid by end of Jan or Feb 2025 who need to decide by 31 Aug. The decision date is six months ahead of redemption date to allow for administration and worst-case scenario planning.
KPI’s
Is there a KPI update?
- 2024/2025 KPIs will be signed off by the DTB soon and then we will provide an update to all members.
Membership numbers
What are the membership numbers post ST inclusion (and breakdown)?
- As of 31st August 2024, there are currently 6,266 members. We will be providing a further update on memberships numbers next month when the renewal period has ended.
Equity
Equity vote campaign – Will there be additional information for members?
- Yes and we are working on providing an update to be sent to members in the next week or so.
Voting
Is it still one member one vote?
- Yes, it is one member one vote and that will not change.
Joining
Can you provide links to membership for non-season ticket holders?
- Go to the Ticket Site and select Dons Trust from the top level menu. https://tickets.afcwimbledon.ltd.uk/selection/membership?productId=10228771533609
Club Website
Is the DTB happy with its presence on the new AFC Wimbledon website?
- It was not a priority for launch as we have our existing site which we explained last month https://thedonstrust.org/2024/08/09/recently-asked-questions-july-august-2024/
Elections
Can the DTB put through a policy on how to treat uncontested elections?
- Uncontested elections are, and always have been, managed by the Election Steering Group. The best answer to resolving uncontested elections is to have a wide range of candidates standing. Once ratified by members, candidates whether uncontested or not are elected to the board.
- At our last AGM the Election Steering Group’s report on the outcome of the uncontested 2023 Board Election (not the first uncontested election we have had), stated that ‘most discussion about nominations was quite civil and positive.’
- The ESG’s report also referred to ‘several individual members and some people outside the membership whose contributions to the debate verged upon being vexatious or frivolous and this was extremely unhelpful and potentially damaging.’
POTM petition
When will the Dons Trust Board provide an update on the Ivor POTM campaign from fans? [ref: twitter]
- We responded by email towards the end of July. The petition was made to the club. Our MD met with Ivor to discuss how his experience can best be used to help the club moving forward in a constructive manner.
- Ivor remains a critical figure in the club’s reformation and history, and like the others who played important roles and are still associated with the club, we hope will continue to find ways of helping the club in the future.
- It is for the club to decide matchday arrangements.
Memorabilia
Who can I send my old programmes/photographs to? [ref: twitter]
- You can contact WiSH. Please email info@wimbledoninsportinghistory.co.uk to arrange an initial discussion.
Turnstiles
Queues to get into the ground are large – is there an update on turnstiles? [ref: twitter]
- Turnstiles have been approved and are in progress. the equipment, related software, implementation and related building works are being arranged.
