Dons Trust Programme notes – Sheffield Wednesday 16/10/21

CHAIR OF THE ELECTIONS STEERING GROUP ALEX FOLKES BREAKS DOWN WHAT LIES AHEAD AS THE PROCESS GETS UNDERWAY.

Are you the right person to join the Dons Trust Board?

This year’s Dons Trust election has started and nominations will be open until 29 October for five places on the Board.

Last year’s election saw a vibrant contest despite the restrictions of lockdown. We very much hope that this year we will see a good range of candidates and a high turnout.

We encourage all candidates to campaign both in-person and online subject to basic rules about respect for others.  These rules are on the Trust website along with the nomination form. Paper copies are also available.

As part of the election, there will be a hustings event on 11 November at the club. This will be run in conjunction with a Meet the Manager event and will be streamed live by the 9 Years Podcast team for anyone unable to make it in person. Robbo has said that he will be staying for the hustings and hopes to ask the first question. We hope that all fans, whether members of the Trust or not, will come along to question those who run the club both on and off the pitch. More details about this event will be published soon.

If you have any questions about the election, please contact me via elections@thedonstrust.org and I will do my best to help. Alternatively, a member of the Elections Team will be at the Dons Trust kiosk in the South East corner of the ground before each home match. The four remaining members of the Board – Xavier Wiggins, Charlie Talbot, Hannah Kitcher and Luke Mackenzie – will also be happy to answer questions about the role of Board members.

If you are not yet a member of the Trust, or if your membership has lapsed, you have until 30 October to join or renew in order to be able to vote in this year’s election. In order to stand or nominate a candidate your membership must be paid up on the date the nomination is submitted.

Once nominations have closed, we will be announcing the list of candidates and publishing their manifestos around the 3 November. The voting period will be from 12 November until the 4 December and the count and results will be as soon as possible after that.

Please look out for some special messages online and at the ground over the course of the election period.

As a fan-owned club, these elections are a key part of the AFC Wimbledon story. Please make sure you have your say
