Dons Trust Board member Jane Lonsdale gives an update on the work she has been doing on behalf of the Board and Trust to enable members to be involved, be informed and be heard as part of the wider member engagement project.

The Trust has picked up about 350 new members in the last few weeks (we normally get one or two a week). Consequently, we need to organise a mass mail out and will need quite a lot of help.

Membership secretary John Stembridge is planning on preparing the packs (essentially envelope stuffing with certificate, letter, card and badge) over two evenings, Wednesday 13 July and Thursday 14 July, at the Sultan pub in South Wimbledon.

The Dons Trust Board (DTB) held its monthly meeting at The Cherry Red Records Stadium on Tuesday, June 14. Ahead of publication of the redacted minutes, this article summarises the main points that were discussed.

Earlier today the club published a press release issued by the English Football league announcing that Premier League Academy teams will be invited to enter the EFL Trophy (more recently the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy) for season 2016-17.

The Dons Trust Board strongly opposes this change and accordingly AFC Wimbledon Chief Executive Erik Samuelson spoke against it and voted against it at the EFL’s annual general meeting.  Regrettably the majority of League 1 and 2 clubs decided to vote in favour.

The Dons Trust, the owner of AFC Wimbledon, is pleased to announce that contracts have been exchanged for the sale of Kingsmeadow stadium to Chelsea FC. 

This is an important next step in the club’s plans to move to a new stadium in Wimbledon. The funds raised by the sale of Kingsmeadow represent a significant contribution towards the cost of the new stadium.
