The Dons Trust AFC Wimbledon Club OwnersElection Steering Group – Election Schedule

The Election Steering Group’s David Hall wrote about the upcoming Dons Trust Board elections for the AFC Wimbledon vs Leyton Orient matchday programme and, while the game was postponed, the article has been reproduced below…

We are proud to be a fan-owned club, and the ultimate decision makers are the people Dons Trust members elect to the Dons Trust Board. Elected members serve on the Board for two years with half stepping down each year. The Board has recently decided to increase itself to ten elected members. This year there will therefore be elections to choose five members of the board.

The key dates are as follows:

Opening of Nominations: Saturday 8th October

Close of Nominations: Saturday 29th October

Manifestos sent out: Wednesday 2nd November

Ballots sent out: Saturday 12th November

Ballot deadline: Saturday 3rd December

So, whilst there is still some time to go before the elections start, now is the time to think about whether you might be a good person to be on the Board or you know someone who you might encourage to stand for election.

In order to stand you need to be a fully paid-up member of the Dons Trust on the date you submit your nomination. In order to vote, you need to be a fully paid-up member on 30th October.

It saves a huge amount of money for the Dons Trust to communicate with members (and send out ballots) by email. If you are one of the few people who have not switched to email yet and are able to do so, this would help us.

In order to check or update your email address, or for any other membership enquiry please contact membership@thedonstrust.org

The Elections Steering Group also encourages fans or fan groups to organise hustings and other events where the candidates can meet and talk to DT members. It is hoped that one of these will be arranged by 9 Years Podcast, as last year. Others – virtual or in person – would be very welcome. If you are interested in holding such an event or getting involved, please get in touch.

We also welcome anyone who wishes to support the work of the Elections Steering Group. For this or any election related question, please contact me: David Hall, Elections Steering Group via: elections@thedonstrust.org
