Could you serve on the Dons Trust Board? 

The Dons Trust Board has decided to co-opt up to two additional board members, serving until the 2023 AGM in December with the intention they are re-appointed to serve for 2024 as well. 

We encourage anyone with an interest to consider if they might be suitable. There are some details online and we will be sharing more about the requirements and process for appointments very soon.

As part of the process of consultation concerning the level of ownership of AFC Wimbledon by The Dons Trust, we have compiled an FAQ.

Q: What is the purpose of this consultation?

A: We want to have a more detailed conversation about the management of debt than our normal processes (SGMs, AGMs, online, matchday) allow. Democratic ownership of the club isn’t just about an event – e.g. putting a series..

The latest Dons Trust board meeting was at Plough Lane. Kevin Rye wasn’t able to be there in person and so dialled in. All other board members were present. 

The board signed off the minutes for May for publication. These are now in the Board Minutes section on the website.

Dons Draw – recent new publicity has brought in some welcome additional subscribers.  Agreement reached on AFC Wimbledon Women games at Plough Lane (see DT website for statement). ..

As announced previously, we are moving the administration of Trust membership to the club’s ticketing system. As a result of this, the renewal process will be slightly different this year.

We are coming to the end of the membership year and will shortly be sending out renewal notices with instructions about how to renew.

If you pay by Direct Debit your membership will automatically be updated as usual.

Dons Trust SGM – Protecting Plough Lane  

At the end of April, we held our first SGM [Special General Meeting] of 2023. This was to conclude the vote to formalise some of the changes to our rules that our members decided on at the December AGM.  

We needed to meet certain criteria as these updates – many relating to the protection of our Plough Lane home, against sale – involved Restricted Actions which required 1,750 members to vote on them.

Matt Lowndes is to step down from the board of The Dons Trust with immediate effect.

Matt said, “I have reluctantly decided to step down from the Board.

“I do not feel I can align my manifesto promises with the current communication issues across the club and therefore it is only right and proper I stand aside. I wish the existing board all the best and hope to stand again at some point in the future.”

The Dons Trust, owners of AFC Wimbledon, are delighted to announce that agreement has been reached for AFC Wimbledon Women (AFCWW) to play at least four matches at Plough Lane next season, with the hope that our new home could host up to eight women’s first-team games.

We are coming up to the end of the membership year on 30 June 2023. Between now and then we will be making a number of changes to memberships and how they are handled, as outlined below.

General Currently the Dons Trust (DT) membership database and the club’s ticketing system database hold separate contact details for members. We will be moving the administration of DT memberships to use the club’s ticketing system, ready for the renewals process which will start..
