Your Dons Trust September Newsletter

Welcome to the September 2023 Dons Trust Board newsletter – our monthly collection of news and stories from your representatives about ongoing Dons Trust activities.

Dons Trust Board update

As announced recently, the AFC Wimbledon PLC board asked Kris Stewart to help temporarily at AFC Wimbledon while the recruitment process for a new Managing Director to replace Danny Macklin is carried out.

As a result, Kris has stepped down from both the Dons Trust and PLC boards, with Michele Little being elected to take over as Chair and Graeme Price as vice-chair.

Edward Leek has in turn been asked to fill this casual vacancy on the DTB, to enable the trust to operate up to and including the scheduled elections in December 2023. He will stand down following these elections.

In place of Kris Stewart, James Macdonald has been elected as the third member of the DTB to serve on the PLC Board, as of this month’s PLC Board meeting.

The DTB will also be co-opting two new members onto the DTB – details will be confirmed on the Dons Trust website soon.

Dons Trust Special General Meeting – Wednesday 1st November

The next Dons Trust Special General Meeting (SGM) will take place at 7.30 pm on Wednesday 1st November at Plough Lane.

Any member wishing to propose a resolution to be discussed at the general meeting should do so with the support of 5 other DT members and submit it in writing by email to secretary@thedonstrust.org.

The deadline for receipt of any member resolutions to the DT Secretary is noon on Wednesday 4 October (28 days prior to the SGM)

All appropriate documents will then be collated and sent to members electronically / or by post as appropriate in advance of the meeting.

Dons Trust Board 2023 Elections

We are proud to be a fan-owned club, and the ultimate decision makers are the people that Dons Trust members elect to the Dons Trust Board annually.

Elected members serve on the Board for two years with half stepping down each year, and this year there will therefore be elections to choose a minimum of five members of the board.

The current plan for the key dates is as follows:

·       Opening of Nominations: Saturday 7th October

·       Close of Nominations: Saturday 28th October

·       Manifestos sent out: Wednesday 1st November.

·       Ballots sent out: Saturday 11th November.

·       Ballot deadline: Saturday 2nd December

Keep an eye on the Dons Trust website for details on how to nominate yourself for election to the Dons Trust Board.

All election related questions should be addressed to Matthew Breach, Elections Steering Group via: elections@thedonstrust.org
