2019 election candidates announced

With five places on the Dons Trust board up for grabs this year, we have received eight nominations for election. In random order, they are:

Their mini-manifestos will be published in the Portsmouth matchday programme (on Saturday 19 October).

Elections AheadUpdate on Dons Trust Elections 2019

This is to confirm that, subject to candidate and proposer verification of eligibility, there will be a contested election for 2019.

Once the verification process has been completed, the names of the candidates will be announced.

Dons Trust members will be aware that, this year, the Trust is trialling an electronic nomination system. For personal data reasons, the verification process will take somewhat longer than in previous years, but an announcement is expected later in the week.

The Dons Trust recently held a ‘temperature test’ survey among our members to help determine the club’s approach to future EFL Trophy matches.

The number crunching has been done and the outcome was that the club should:

continue its existing stance towards the EFL Trophy = 678 votes (74.10%) change its existing stance towards the EFL Trophy by opening hospitality and fully promoting all EFL Trophy matches = 235 votes (25.68%)

July’s board meeting summary

The Dons Trust Board (DTB) held its monthly meeting at the Cherry Red Records Stadium on Wednesday 24 July. Ahead of publication of the redacted minutes, this article summarises the main points discussed.

Present from the DTB were Rob Crane, Mark Davis, Colin Dipple, Hannah Kitcher and Luke Mackenzie. Apologies were received from Roger Evans, Cormac van der Hoeven, Anna Kingsley, Edward Leek and Jane Lonsdale. The meeting was quorate.

We are looking for a volunteer to facilitate discussions about how we celebrate our history at our new stadium.

The role will involve leading discussions between a range of supporters – including Wimbledon in Sporting History (WISH) – to determine a way that allows display of the widest range of artefacts possible while ensuring that any organisation involved in displaying material in the stadium’s museum is ultimately accountable to the Dons Trust.

The Dons Trust board knows that many members are unsure where we currently stand with regard to representing our history at our new stadium. This follows regrettable inactivity by the board since this issue was discussed at April’s SGM.

As well as issuing this update, we are now advertising for a volunteer facilitator to take the lead on discussions to ensure that we end up with a museum at our new stadium that we can all be proud of.
